Bound in a half-crushed morocco binding.
Vol II of a hunting periodical that was published from 1861-1867.
Illustrations include twelve plate engravings, one of which is hand-coloured, as well as a colour plan of Jardin Zoologique dAcclimatation du Boi de Boulogne.
This is a wonderfully presented volume containing an early periodical from the La Vie a la Campagne hunting journal, a French periodical which celebrated the enjoyment of nature alongside various outdoor activities.
Contents articles from a range of contributors, such as Acclimation by M. Ch. Jaque, Brochet (le) by M. Fit Barn, and Chasse au marais dans les Landes by M. G. de Cherville.
Edited by Charles Furne (1794-1859), a French publisher and printer. After his death, his publishing business was succeeded by his son Charles Paul Furne.
Collated, complete.
CONDITION
Bound in half-crushed morocco on smooth paper boards. Externally, very smart. A bit of bumping and wear to extremities and spine, with light wear along front band of joints. Light wear to the head and tail of spine. A few marks to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with minimal age toning and light spotting which increases to the first and last few pages.
